8 Ways to Maintain Our Strength

Rededicate To God’s Plan & Ways To recover and maintain our spiritual strength the first thing we can do is to rededicate ourselves to the Lord, His ways, His priorities and surrender our own agendas. Rediscover who we are: agents from heaven sent to be lights in the world and that we walk by a different set of values and priorities than it. Though we work and labor in the world our value and worth do not come from it, but from heaven. We are dead to the world. We do not live to please it or conform to it. Instead we are to be controlled by the Spirit of God, word of God and the plan of God.

Pray Always In The Spirit. We must continue to build ourselves up by prayer in the spirit, continually welcoming His presence and help. ‘But you beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God.” (Jude 20 See also Eph 6:18) This includes prayer in tongues and prayer from the heart of God. Without constant prayer the problems of life and the pressure thoughts of can overwhelm us and sap or energy. On the other hand when we pray in the spirit and in tongues we build ourselves up in our faith. We need to recover the lifestyle of much prayer in the spirit from the heart. This prayer discharges our known problems and also reaches beyond them to the heart of God.

Build Ourselves Through the Word Reading the world though the eyes of faith is a tremendous source of strength for all believers. We need not just to read it but also to ponder its message. Reading what other great men and women of God have written about the word and continuing to listen to messages on the word, stimulates our understanding and cause us to discover the riches of its treasures. Today’s’ Christian reading is often dominated by reflection on contemporary trends that the great doctrines of the faith are neglected and our understanding limited. We must not neglect to learn from and build on the insights of the giants of the past.

Continue To Receive The Holy Spirit.“Be filled (i.e. constantly in a process of refilling) with the Spirit speaking to yourselves with songs and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Eph 5:18-19) “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you” (Phil 4:8,9) When negativity creeps into our spirits through thoughts and words, we become weak. When we fail to keep the melody of the Lord flowing from our hearts, the problems and pressures of life can overwhelm us. As a counter measure to this we can recover the strengthening power of joy and praise in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit must be continuously welcomed, employed and invited into our lives and situations.

Continue To Resist The Devil. When Satan’s messengers come to discourage and intimidate us, generate doubts, steal our joy and wear us down with depression and sickness, we must recognize his devices and resist his work. One of the best ways to do this is to renounce all agreement with thoughts planted by the enemy and command the spirits behind those thoughts to leave in Jesus’ name!

Refuse Bitterness & Unforgiveness To keep our strength in the Lord we have to absolutely refuse to walk in bitterness and unforgiveness of any kind. Instead we can walk in love, giving ourselves over to be agents of God’s love and mercy in the world. Since God’s love is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit we can constantly ask Him to pour into our hears a supreme love for Him, proper love for ourselves and ever increasing love for others.

Lay Aside All Weights & Sin.“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and he finisher of our faith.” (Heb. 12:1-2) Since we are in a race we have to throw off ‘sins’ and ‘weights’ that slow us down. We can recognize, repent and remove these sins from our lives. Ask the Holy Spirit to give us tender consciences so that, through presumption, we do not allow anything into our lives, which weakens us spiritually. “Weights” are habits, distractions and emotional entanglements, which hinder us spiritually. Many carry with them weights, guilts and hurts from these past. We can loose ourselves from them so we can run our race with focus and in freedom. Jesus has given us the ‘keys of the kingdom’ to loose ourselves from these things and to ‘bind’ ourselves to the opposite. Another series of weights come from commitments we have made and involvement in activities and enterprises that have outlived their usefulness. We can miss obedience to God’s call because of the weight of obligation to a duty He no longer wants us to bear. Never let your duties to the world interfere with your obedience to the Lord.

Stay Involved In The Battle David, one of the greatest warriors of all time, became weary with the battle and no longer went out to battle. It was then he became weak and succumbed to the sin that nearly destroyed his whole life’s work. Jesus said, “My meat is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish His work” (John 4:34) Many drop out from the work and become weak. When we stay engaged and continue to take our part (no matter how small it seems) in the Lord’s work giving it top priority, our spirits are strengthened with invisible food. There is much more to be said about being free to be strong in the Lord. The above is a start to stimulate our faith to fight and run with sharpness and freshness . In this way we can be overcomers and win the crowns of life rather than be overcome by the cares and pressures of this age. (See Rev. 2 & 3) Be of good cheer says Jesus I have overcome the world!!

What Other’s Say

“You can never really know the scriptures until you are willing to be changed by them. All genuine revivals of the Lord result in believers responding with action and soul winning.” (Brother Yun “The Heavenly Man” p. 297)

“In every age the Holy Spirit has invited believers to step into His own miraculous realm. Only a few have achieved it.. God’s constant effort has been to lead us – not across the desert – but into the miraculous realm of the Spirit. This fact has been as difficult for contemporary Christians to accept it as it was for ancient Jews. For that reason many modern congregations find themselves left behind wondering what happened to their once thriving ministries. Miraculous power is gone; nothing is left but an empty shell where life once thrived.” (Charles Carrin Newsletter 2/05)

News

Dear Friends, We send you our letter once again to keep in touch and to ask for prayers for our upcoming ministry.

Since the beginning of the year we have continued our local “120 Club” Bible studies in Stuart, Ft. Pierce/Vero & Jupiter. This last month we have studied the Healing Room Training Tapes by Cal Pierce, founder of the International Association of Healing Rooms. We believe the Lord is using the Healing Rooms world wide to restore the miraculous and supernatural dimension of the kingdom to the Body of Christ.

We shall be away from home on ministry in Ireland, U.K. , Finland , Estonia and Germany between March 17th and June 20th

We have more than 80 meetings planned for that time. With the help of your prayer these meetings can be significant times of blessing, consolidation and breakthrough for the places we minister at.

Each of these nations has a different dynamic. Ireland of course is predominately Roman Catholic but becoming increasingly secularized. It is a joy to have input in churches of every denomination when we are in Ireland. Especially close to our hearts is the development of the evangelical, charismatic and pentecostal churches there.

Finland, which shares a long border with Russia, is a predominately Lutheran and secular society. Their long resistance to Soviet expansion during the war and post war period has given them a special characteristic of independent thinking. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Finland became a major bridge for the return of Soviet Jews to Israel.

Largely due to the heroic efforts of D r s . Kaarlo & Ula Jarvilheto and the International Christian Embassy, Christians have played a major part in helping Soviet Jews return to Israel. The Finnish branch of the Christian Embassy has arranged our itinerary in Finland, and we will be partnering with the Jarvilhetos on our ministry there. Our invitation to Estonia comes through Ulo Niinemagi. Our ministry there will be evangelistic and teaching in many churches including the largest cathedral in Tallinn, the capital.

Estonia came out from Communism in 1989 and is a forward thinking democracy. The vacuum created by the collapse of atheistic communism ideology has resulted in people there to be very open to the gospel.

The continuing upheaval, shakings and consternation among the nations, arising from unstable political, economic, geological and climate conditions will cause millions to turn to the stability of the Rock and His message. However, the advance of the gospel will not bring outer peace until Jesus returns. In these times of great shakings and uncertainty His message has never been a more relevant lighthouse

It is our privilege and yours to be a part a small part of this light that is streaming into the nations.

Our sincerest thanks to all of you who help us with your prayers and financial support. You are a vital part of the ministry, without which we would not function,

With deepest appreciation & Love, One In His great love and service,
-Paul
