'COME FLY WITH ME' - THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE

"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1)

This verse mentions two laws:
1. the law of the Spirit of life and
2. the law of sin and death,
Since the time of Adam every one of his descendants has been subject to "the law of sin and death." This law is like the law of gravity continuously pulling everyone down towards sin and death and is stronger than we are. No amount of human strength can overcome this Adamic human nature that we are all born with.
However, just as there is a law that is stronger than the law of gravity (the law of aerodynamics) there is also a law that overcomes the law of sin and death - the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus which is the life of Jesus we receive when we are born again and exchange our Adam life for His life. Until the laws of aerodynamics were harnessed it was impossible for man to fly. Gravity ruled unchallenged. Similarly, until Jesus (after His Death and Resurrection) breathed His Holy Spirit into us it was impossible for us to get free from "the law of sin and death."

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is the operation of the Spirit of the Resurrected Jesus in us. This IS God's antidote to sin - the Holy Spirit. His life in us lifts us free from sin’s dominion and power and accomplishes what no amount of religious effort or will-power can do. This "law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" liberates us from the law of sin and death and overcomes the gravitational pull of sin - provided we receive it and yield to it.

When we receive the life of the Spirit of the Resurrected Jesus we are freed from the power of sin that controlled our Adam life and are empowered with Heavenly life to live lives of love and service. This law is not a law of commandments written on paper or stone (dos and don’ts) - it is the life of God Himself filling us and releasing us from the rebellious life of Adam and the gravitational pull of sin.

It is time for ALL believers to lay aside powerless resolutions, religious rules and systems (old or new) and come up higher to "fly in the Spirit." "Whom the Son sets free is free indeed." (John 8.36) There is no other way.

"The person who lives in the power of the resurrection of Jesus is also raised to a plane of life which is outside the boundaries of nature and outside the possibilities of the natural man. He begins to live under a divine law! He becomes possessed with the divine nature! He begins to manifest the beauties of the divine character. The standards by which his life is governed are all divine.
Our trouble is that we hang on and hang and hang on to the flesh; to our mortal comprehensions; to intellectual attainments; to our human understanding. ... And while we do we are closing the door because of our unbelief to spiritual possibilities inherent in every life which hid with Christ in God."
